Theophany Radio

Theophany Radio ran successfully, nearly 24-7, from April to November 2004. Several successful radio specials were produced and broadcast, including a Cold Meat Industry special with Mister Hate (KFJC, Noothgrush, Big City Orchestre) and a Sangre Amado Interview / Retrospective. Other events were planned (features on Progressive group Systems Theory, Cocteau Twins' guitarist Robin Guthrie and Texas Bella Union group Lift To Experience).

Theophany Radio became too difficult (and expensive!) to operate almost completely on my own (!). If you or someone you know has some bandwidth to spare (enough to run 50-100 128kbps Stereo mp3 compressed digital audio streams), use this

to contact Theophany Records / Annunciation Studios.

Theophany Radio will, of course, return again in the future. At least as an "on-demand" venue for special productions.

The Original Abstract

Written in April, 2004:

Theophany Radio went live on April 1st, 2004. We are currently broadcasting in 32k mp3 for dialup conections and 56k for hi-speed.  Our Stream originates in Oakland, California, and comes to you by way of our leased streaming server in New York City.  We can currently host 10 Dialup and 20 Broadband clients.  So far, no one has been turned away without music!

We just got set up, so it's a little rinky dink right now compared to what we've got planned. There are no voiceovers or station ID's yet. This is a brand new station! We're also still working with various audio quality and administrative details. From time to time we are offline for maintenence.

We are looking for DJ's, bands and collaborators. All you need is a PC with Winamp and a Broadband connection. We can do live mics anywhere there's a broadband connection. I initially set this up to do live mics of groups on my label. Several regular live events are in the works including a regular guitar feedback soundscape program called Nada Brahma: The Sound of God featuring established local music icons.

Other things you can expect to hear on Theophany:

Cocteau Twins, King Crimson, lots of Progressive Rock, Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Industrial, Noise, Extreme Terror, Silence, Sacred and Orchestral works, Prayers, Satanic Poetry, Spoken Word, Hypnosis..
.

Stay tuned....
